Campaigners and activists from the Pacific share the lived realities of people in countries where the impact of nuclear testing is being exacerbated by rising seas.

Oxfam in the Pacific’s Raising Pacific Voices program hosted a side event at the CIVICUS-organised International Civil Society Week (ICSW2017) in Suva, Fiji, on Tuesday 5 December on climate change and the nuclear legacy.

Titled ‘Rising Seas and Nuclear Issues’, the panel featured Brooke Takala Abraham of the Marshall Islands community organisation Elimondok, Alson Kelen of RPV-partner Radiation Exposure Awareness Crusaders for Humanity (REACH-MI), Vanessa Griffen of the International Coalition for the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons, and Maureen Penjueli of the Pacific Network on Globalisation (PANG).
