We previously shared episodes of “Who Asked Her?” the podcast created by Papua New Guinean lawyer Elvina Ogil to discuss “issues of importance to Papua New Guineans across all demographics” but from a unique feministic perspective.
“[The podcast] is about broadening our view of Papua New Guinean women at home because we have this narrow concept of ‘You’re not anything until you’re a housewife,’” says Ogil, who touches on important issues like mental health, cultural appropriation and toxic masculinity.
The second series of “Who Asked Her?” is now being released, and in the first episode, Ogil talks to Mahalia Handley – model, activist and co-founder of the Shine for Diversity campaign – about issues they feel are really important today, “particularly to people of colour.”
Topics discussed range on everything from Handley’s memories of growing up in Darwin, Australia to the “politics of long black hair”. Tune in for a lively and engaging conversation between two women who have a lot to say about issues not commonly talked about.
